More than ‘just’ water – sustainability in public services

Berlin Water Utilities

The water utility company Berliner Wasserbetriebe (BWB) does a lot – for the people of Berlin and for Berlin’s environment. Nevertheless, the company have drawn some criticism. People claim it is too expensive. With its communication on sustainability, BWB shows what the city’s water utility company is really all about. komm.passion supports this effort.

BWB not only ensures that Berlin is supplied with the highest quality drinking water today and in the future. It also ensures that Berlin’s waters remain clean and that resources are used in a climate-friendly manner. To accomplish this task, 4,500 employees monitor, research, develop, test, control, repair and operate Berlin’s water cycle – without it, everything would come to a stop in the city. The Berlin water utility company BWB does more than ‘just’ water.

Of course, all this comes at a price. And the BWB must demand compensation from its customers so that it can finance its work.  The BWB Sustainability Report – the centrepiece of sustainability communication – impressively demonstrates that drinking water supply and wastewater disposal is also environmental protection, climate protection, high-tech research and much more. For this report, the komm.passion team delved deep into the details of water management and created an exciting and attractive publication that really captivates readers. It was rightly awarded the Econ Award for Business Communication.

The accompanying communication consists of a mix of public affairs, media relations, events, mailings, etc. It ensures that stakeholders from politics and civil society fully understand that ‘their’ own Berlin water utility company is worth the money.
